PUBLIC NOTICE: TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF EASTERN BEACH
The Buffalo City Metro informs the public that a dead whale was discovered this morning in the waters near our beaches. Preliminary investigations indicate that the whale may have been struck by a boat, as significant injuries were observed.

Although the whale is located some distance from the shoreline, floating meat and remains may attract sharks closer to shore.

As a precautionary measure, Eastern Beach will be temporarily closed to swimmers, surfers, and fishermen until further notice.

Our marine specialists and relevant authorities are continuing with investigations and monitoring the situation closely.

The public will be updated as soon as new developments unfold and once it is safe to reopen the beach.

We appreciate the community’s cooperation and understanding in prioritising public safety.
